We had a very interesting week!
In math we started unit 5. The fourth graders are reviewing basic extended multiplication operations and learning new methods for multiplying and estimating. The fifth graders are reviewing comparing fractions and mixed numbers.
In our unit of inquiry, students are researching basic and important facts from one country in particular and they are learning so much!
Our fifth graders completely established their central ideas and lines of inquiry. They are ready and eager to start researching. We will recharge our batteries and make sure we come with great new ideas for our Exhibition.
In English, we discussed Martin Luther King, Jr. and his quote, “If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. But by all means, keep moving.” After our discussion, students reflected on the quote and wrote a poem about what it means to them.
We are all very excited for the holidays. We will have our Christmas party tomorrow afternoon, with piñatas, games and a lot of fun! We want to expressly thank Erick Gibson and Lucy Beighle for their help and great ideas for our party and for all of the parent volunteers this week. We are truly thankful for their hard work on this special event.
Have a wonderful Winter Break and we will see you on the 6th of January!
